The familiar apperance of the model 'AA' truck is due to it being the work horse variant of the famous model 'A' car. This model was produced in the pre 'Cold War' era in Britain, the USA and Russia. The 'AA' had an extended truck chassis of 334 cm's and was powered by the new 4 cylinder side valve 3200cc engine. This could produce 40 bhp and was driven through a standard 3 speed gearbox. |
Ford built in England in Dagenham from 1930 on the basis of the American-developed model A cars and vans that were given the name Ford model A and AA. In America, the production of the Ford model A had already started in 1928 and turned out to be a huge success. The model AA is built on an extended chassis of the standard model A.
